TikTok AI Remix: Everything You Need to Know & How to Turn It Off

A few months ago, something came across my desk that made me so mad I immediately opened TikTok and started checking every video I’ve ever posted.

TikTok has been rolling out a new AI remix setting that allows your content to be repurposed using artificial intelligence. Depending on the tools available, that could mean altering elements such as your face, voice, background, or visual style to create something new from your original video.

And the setting may already be turned on on your profile.

What Is TikTok AI Remix?

TikTok AI remix appears to give the platform’s AI tools permission to use an existing video as the basis for newly generated content. While I’m not going to pretend we have answers TikTok hasn’t given us, I am going to say that creators deserve far more clarity before their faces, voices, and work are placed inside an AI remix tool.

The craziest part? Despite this having been a thing since late April of 2026, there still isn’t a simple way to disable the feature across your entire account. Creators are reporting that the setting needs to be checked on individual videos, including drafts (yes, it’s also in your drafts!!) and content that hasn’t been published yet.

How to Turn Off AI Remix on TikTok

Here’s where to look:

  1. Open one of your TikTok videos.

  2. Tap the three-dot menu or open the video’s settings.

  3. Find the option related to AI remixing or AI reuse.

  4. Switch the toggle off.

  5. Repeat the process for other published videos and check your drafts before posting.

Yes, that means opening your videos one by one. I have many TikToks I do not want transformed into synthetic content, so this is a personal nightmare disguised as a settings update.

What Creators Should Do Now

Check your account today and see whether TikTok AI remix has appeared in your video settings. If reviewing every post feels impossible, start with your most popular videos, any content that prominently features your face or voice, and anything owned by a client or brand.

Also check the setting whenever you publish something new. TikTok updates roll out differently by account and region, so you may not see the same options as another creator yet.

I’ll be watching for an account-wide control, a clearer explanation from TikTok, or any change that makes managing this less absurd. Until then, I recommend deciding for yourself how your work can be reused instead of leaving that decision to a default toggle you didn’t choose.
